Small Businesses Seek Better Visibility

The pioneer steering committee meeting in Douala focused boosting the sector.
The Steering Committee which doubles
as the Board of Directors of the Sub-contracting and Partnership
Exchange met in the economic capital on Tuesday July 30.
Made up of 14 members being seven
representing the administration and seven from the private sector, the
pioneer session was chaired by the Secretary General in the Ministry of
Small and Medium-size Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicraft
(MINPMEESA), Marie Louise Secke Mpouka with focus on the recent
modifications concerning the sector. It would be recalled that following
a decree by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, the General
Assembly Meeting of the Sub-contracting and Partnership Exchange
(SPX-CAM) was convened in Yaounde on May 8.
Under the stewardship of the MINPMEESA,
Pr Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, the main objective was to adopt measures
to enhance the visibility of SPX by rendering it fully operational.
Thus, the maiden structure was attributed the status of Economic
Interest Group (EIG), with added advantages ranging from diversified
funding and access to subsidies, etc.
Deliberations during the Douala session
centred on the reading of the minutes of the Constituent General
Assembly Meeting, the amendment of the internal rules and regulations,
the examination of Priority Projects and their budget. The overall
objective is the development and promotion of SMEs dealing in industrial
sub-contracting, their networking and capacity-building in response to
the Stock Exchange and Sub-contracting partnership atmosphere in the
country.
