Yaounde Tourism Branch Office Launched

The new office will help to boost the tourism sector.

Private tourism operators in the country have been assured that the Ministry of Tourism will spare no effort in harmoniously and efficiently assisting their initiatives in order to boost tourism. The assurance was given by the Secretary General in the Ministry of Tourism, Angeline Florence Ngomo, while presiding at the commissioning ceremony of the Yaounde office of Chonelaz Rent Car S.A.; a travel agency whose three-year existence in the economic capital, Douala and growing ambitions for the development of the tourism industry have earned the Ministry’s acknowledgement.
Angeline Florence Ngomo established the importance of such an event in a context marked by the recent attainment by Cameroon of the status of international tourism destination and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with China, thus opening the way for the promotion of group visits by Chinese tourists to Cameroon. “This travel agency will certainly contribute to the organisation of such visits,” she said while recommending quality service and professionalism by staff.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Chonelaz Rent Car S.A., Lazare Choupo Neguem, said by granting his company a licence in 2009 to operate, the state has permitted them to establish a profitable link between tourism and the economy. “During its second year of operation, the company generated a turnover of FCFA 250,000 and more than ten permanent jobs, offering services such as car sales and rentals, airline ticket sales and tour operating,” he said. Besides the speeches, the event was highlighted by the cutting of the ribbon, a guided visit to the offices and a cocktail.
