PM Yang Invites Commonwealth Investors To Cameroon

He presented Cameroon’s investment potentials during the Commonwealth Business Forum in Perth, Australia yesterday, October 27, 2011.
Cameroon’s Prime Minister, Head of Government, Philemon Yang, Thursday, October 27, 2011 in Perth, Western Australia presented the country’s huge natural and human resources, favourable legal and judicial investment framework, efforts to cleanse the business climate and readiness to facilitate investments, Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) reported.
Mr. Yang was speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum in Perth, organized prior to the 2011 Commonwealth summit holding in the same city. Prime Minister Yang is in Australia to represent the Head of State, Paul Biya in the Commonwealth summit that takes place from October 28 to 30, 2011.
The Commonwealth Business Forum, a unique gathering of business leaders from developed and emerging markets, focused on building new economic and financial architecture in the global economy to ensure that it is inclusive and beneficial to all. Joining the more than 100 speakers, Cameroon’s Head of Government, CRTV said, highlighted the various hydroelectricity dam projects, stating that upon completion, the country will be an exporter of energy. He reportedly cited the Chad-Cameroon Pipeline project as a good example of public-private sector partnership and said being Africa in miniature, Cameroon was the best destination for investment.
In a separate business breakfast sponsored by the London-based Afferro Mining Group in partnership with the Cameroon Investment Promotion Agency, Prime Minister Yang told the over 200 investors present that Cameroon was a destination for trade, investment and sustainable growth. The Prime Minister was accompanied to the business breakfast by the Board Chairperson of the Cameroon Investment Promotion Agency, Dr Diane Acha-Morfaw and its Deputy Director General, Donatus Boma. The Chief Executive Officer of Afferro Mining Group, Luis da Silva, presented the company and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Caminex in Nkout near Djoum in South Cameroon.
The Commonwealth summit that begins this Friday, October 28, 2011, takes place on the theme, “Building national resilience, building global resilience,” a release from the Commonwealth Secretariat states. “The Commonwealth Heads of Government are expected to consider matters relating to good governance, human rights, climate change, wealth creation, food security and natural resources management in the face of deepening global financial concerns and the debate on aid effectiveness,” the release specifies.
Cameroon’s Prime Minister has also been holding separate discussions with international personalities aimed at projecting Cameroon’s image. He is said to have had discussions yesterday October 27 with the Australian Minister of State for Public Service and Integrity, as well as the Director General of the Commonwealth Business Forum.
