Development; Competitiveness Programme Gets Six Months Extension

(Cameroon Tribune) The Support Programme for Improving the Competitiveness of the Economy in Cameroon (PACOM) has negotiated and extended its programme to another six months. Out of the 60 companies earmarked for upgrading 40 actually begun the process,
many of whom are still to complete and 20 are yet to join the upgrading process.
The information was made public during the sixth session of the pilot committee to evaluate the effective operationalisation and efficiency of activities of PACOM in Douala December 13.
The rate of achievement was 27 per cent in February 2017 but today it has improved to 77 per cent, which means there have been some recovery in the activity and some impetus put in place to upgrade companies. The programme was supposed to end by February 2018 but it has been extended to August 2018. This extension will give room for activities that were remaining to be achieved.
