Promotion of entrepreneurship and economic development

The Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA), Achille BASSILEKIN III was at the headquarters of the Cameroon Employers’ Organistaion (GICAM) on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, for a discussion meeting with business leaders, organised within the framework of the 3rd edition of the Global entrepreneurship week,

under the theme: "Capitalizing on opportunities in times of crisis.

A celebration of a global character that reveals in a strong way the role of private initiatives in the development of economies, the creation of wealth and jobs.

This meeting comes at a time when the impacts the Covid-19 pandemic weigh heavily on the economy in general and specifically on SMEs.

It was thus an opportunity for SMEs to exchange with the Minister on topics such as: innovative financing; support to SMEs to fight against the impacts of Covid'19; promotion of entrepreneurship.

For the President of GICAM, Mr. Célestin TAWAMBA, it is time to promote a local industry able to satisfy local demand; promote economic patriotism, (Made in Cameroon) and national champions; promote entrepreneurship within the framework of necessary policies aimed at promoting investments and a strong private sector.

For this reason, the formulation of a real policy for the promotion of entrepreneurship is a prerequisite and requires that issues related to the improvement of the business environment be addressed.
